The premiere of the first American translation of Ferdinand Bruckner’s Pain of Youth was staged at the Access Theater in Lower Manhattan. The play was directed by Shannon Mayers and starred Danielle Fink as Marie, Dustin Brown as Petrell, Kimberly Ehly as Desiree, Nikki Berger as Irene, Patrick Donnelly as Alt, Doug Howe as Freder and Bronwyn Sims as Lucy.

THALATTA! begins partnership with the Goethe Institut N.Y. to create a symposium on Modern German Drama.

THALATTA! solicits and reads over seventy five scripts from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

THALATTA! & Goethe commence collaboration with the Graduate Center at CUNY & A.R.T./ N.Y to host the conference.

‘Contemporary Theatre Abroad’ is presented at the Martin E. Segal Theater Center in midtown. Introductions by Edwin Wilson, Irmtraut Hubatsch and Lisa Stevenson. A scene from Arabian Night, translated by Melanie Dreyer, produced by THALATTA! A lecture entitled ‘Contemporary German Drama’ by Bernd Schmidt. A scene from Push Up 1-3, translated by Maja Zade, produced by MCC Theater. A personal statement and Q&A from Roland Schimmelpfennig, followed by a reception.

Staged Reading of Arabian Night [Germany 2001] at the Blu Lounge in Williamsburg. The play was directed by Doug Howe and starred Tami Dixon as Franziska, Theodore Loukas as Fatima, Garrett Savage as Kalil, Karl Herlinger as Karpati and Robert Fass and Lomeier.

The play was directed by Doug Howe and starred Jesse Hooker as Sven, Janio Marrero as Kai and Richard Prioleau Jr. as Andi. Maria McConville played the secretary and read stage directions. Mar 05 SALON SERIES – Benefit Performance of Patrick Mellon’s ringfinger – a cabaret about equality. All proceeds were donated the Marriage Equality New York - the statewide, grass-roots organization committed to ending discrimination in civil marriage.
June 05 SALON SERIES- Staged reading of Playing the Victim by the Presnyakov Brothers [Russia 2002] at the Harold Clurman Theatre in Theatre Row. The play was directed by Ari Edelson and starred Buzz Bovshow as the Inspector, Doug Howe as Valya, Stefan Lingenfelter as Seva, Maria McConville as the Japanese Woman with a Mysterious Past, Eva Patton as Lyuda and Matt Rauch as Takhir Zakirov. The evening was produced in association with Ian Morgan of The New Group and Kate Loewald of The Play Co. Graphic Design by Jon Wise.
